Prison Director Takes Authority Away From the Prison Wardens and Deputy Wardens to Gain Control, states Anant Tripati

PHOENIX, AZ - April 7 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Paul Carter, assistant Arizona Attorney general from Tucson, Arizona, acting on behalf of Daryl Johnson, confidant of prison director Dora Schiriro in Phoenix, advised Judges Ruth Hilliard and Paul Katz that prison Wardens and Deputy Wardens are "flunkies," with NO authority to authorize inmate Tripati to posses law books and legal materials, states Tripati [CR 2002 15874 and CR 2005 11562].

"Warden John Ontiveros, in Florence, following orders from Daryl Johnson, immediately directed his subordinates to confiscate all law books and legal materials from inmate Tripati stating these shall be destroyed the moment Judge Armstrong allows them to do so," continues Tripati.

"As spokesperson for Dora Schiriro, Warden Ontiveros informed Tripati in writing that since Schiriro does not trust prison employees she decided to transfer him for being too familiar with prison employees."

"Dora Schiriro has bigger problems to worry about than my law books and typewriter. If she cannot trust her employees, she is in serious trouble. For Schiriro, upon advice from Daryl Johnson and Paul Carter, to state Wardens and Deputy Wardens are 'flunkies' is derogatory towards these individuals. How can Wardens and Deputy Wardens trust Schiriro when Daryl Johnson, Paul Carter, James Arnold, Warden Ontiveros, and others are saying they have no authority? Schiriro should be concerned about ADOC employees preventing inmates from practicing their religion, harassing and preventing inmates from presenting their claims to the courts. Instead she is concerned I have my own law books, a court ordered typewriter, and one extra bottle of shampoo," states Tripati.

"Warden Mary Romweber, Buckeye, in February 2006 allegedly falsified prison records to say that Tripati was 'too close and familiar with prison staff' so he should be moved without investigating the matter. Warden Ontiveros and Deputy Warden Arnold, acting as spokespersons for Schiriro, informed Tripati of this. Their first act was confiscation of Tripati's law books and typewriter, advising they will be destroyed."

"Dora Schiriro has hired Judge Robert Myers, from the Superior Court, as General Counsel for the Dept of Corrections. Judge Myers uses his clout to have Arizona Judges protect Dora Schiriro, and they are doing so," concludes Tripati.
