"As a lawyer who practices in the Courts in Maricopa County and Yuma, and as one who is familiar with the judges involved, I agree with everything that the website states. The judges mentioned have been known to engage in the type of misconduct described in the website. However, as we lawyers fear reprisal from the system, we are unable to bring these issues to the attention of the relevant authorities. I commend Mr. Tripati for taking the first step."
(Michael)
"I have worked before the judges of the Maricopa County Superior Court mentioned in the website. They are dishonest and lack the necessary integrity that judges must have. As the Arizona Supreme Court refuses to act on complaints by litigants against judges, they breed a system managed by corrupt judges."
(James)
"Judge Tom Cole was involved in a case in which I was the lawyer. Because of the clout of my clients had, they prevailed, though on the merits they should not have."
(Robert)
"When I worked for the Attorney General's Office, I often wondered why ADOC employees always submitted documents and affidavits which clearly contradicted what the inmates stated. Upon investigation I determined my employer at the time, the Arizona Attorney General, encouraged submission of false documentation and evidence. Our goal was and has always been to win, no matter what the cost. Time has come for the Arizona Attorney General's Office to re-examine the approach it takes in inmate litigation, by discounting what prison authorities say. They cannot be trusted in any manner."
(Bill)
"Our Courts are in a mess. Judges such as Tom Cole have a built in reputation for judicial impropriety in cases before them. Prosecutors in Yuma have been known to create crimes. As our Supreme Court and Courts of Appeals have shown they are unable to control the conduct of judges and prosecutors, they are allowed to engage in such misconduct."
(Art)
"Within legal circles in Maricopa County, it is well know Judges Jonathan Schwartz, Gregory Martin, Michael Ryan, Edward Burke, Ronald Reinstein always do favors for parties they have a vested interest in. They have been known to make decisions to protect those they feel should prevail as well as their friends. Once these judges believe someone like Tripati is guilty and may pose threat to their personal power, they bend backwards to see the person is in prison. Other judges do not overturn decisions made by these judges for their own protection. If they overturn decisions which they know are wrong, but were made by other judges, they may one day have their own decisions overturned. In short, it is an unwritten code within these judges to protect each other.
Even though the Arizona Supreme Court and Court of Appeals know this, they refuse to correct the problem as they decline to say judges are acting inappropriately. "
(Mark)
"As a grievance coordinator within the ADOC, we use the inmate grievance system to coverup the misconduct by staff against inmates. This is demanded by our supervisors."
(Bill)
"I am a longtime ADOC employee and state that inmate property and legal materials are deliberately lost by staff. Both Mr. Ernest Ruiz and Robert Taugner have lied under oath. It is impossible to know if any ADOC document is forged because staff do not log all documents, lose papers, destroy papers and do no complete documents in a uniform manner."
(Deb)
"In the ADOC Legal Services, we always create documents, conceal documents so as to have decisions in our favor. The Arizona Attorney General's Office know this fact."
(No Name)
"While our Attorney General personally does not encourage the concealment of evidence, destruction of documents, submission of false evidence etc, I know as an employee of that office, we do this all the time, so that we prevail. There is nothing that can be done to change this because ADOC staff have the tendency of creating documentation on every issue, to a fault, thereby making it difficult to defend inmate lawsuits, without engaging in misconduct."
(Jim)
"These judges are playing games with Tripati. They just want to make an example out of him for consistently challenging their power. It will only stop if our Supreme Court transfers his case to another county for a full blown evidentiary hearing. I am glad that Tripati is challenging the corruption within the system."
(Mike)
"I have practiced before Judge Tom Cole and with Philip Hall. Based on my experience with these two individuals, I give credence to the claims made by Mr. Conlon that Philip Hall fabricated evidence and Judge Cole covered up. Judge Cole needs to disqualify himself and hearings should be held on all of Conlon's claims."
(Tom)
"Judge John Buttrick and I worked together as lawyers but after reviewing his orders dated October 23, 2002 and November 19, 2002 I have lost a great deal of respect for my friend. It is clear John did not like the allegations made in the Second Amended Complaint so he just took the easy way out."
(Bill)
"We judges do not like the idea of overturning decisions made by other judges, but we have to do so, when we know the decisions are wrong.
Judge Ronald Reinstein should not have called Judy Gabbert, for his call was clearly designed to influence her. It was interpreted as a request to destroy evidence which apparently was done. By refusing to allow Mr. Tripati to file his 1983 action against those involved in this matter, both Judge Edward Burke and Kenneth Fields have given the appearance of judicial coverup.
The documents in the website put us judges in the same category as other white collar criminals with the added twist that we are denying Mr. Tripati to file his 1983 access to the courts so as to coverup for other judges. Our integrity has been put at issue.
I believe our Supreme Court has the duty to order hearings on the issues raised in this website.
As judges we must be above reproach and the website proves otherwise."
(Judge Bill)
"The Justices of the Arizona Supreme Court should follow the path taken by Governor Ryan of Illinois. They should order all cases involving Mr. Conlon and Mr. Tripati heard in another county before judges who are not familiar with these cases. These Justices should order all cases involving Judges Cole, Hall, Reinstein, Schwartz, Martin, Burke and others named in this website where misconduct has been asserted heard before some judge. Just like Governor Ryan's Clemency hearings, these hearings should be held after complete discovery by the parties. The judges and the prosecutors should not be allowed to invoke any privileges and must not be allowed to hide under any privilege. As to the State prison and the Arizona Attorney General's Office, the justices must do the same. Full and complete hearings must be ordered held. The integrity of the Courts must be protected and corruption which is shown in the site does not help."
(Mark)
"Tripati must have done something personally to Judge Ronald Reinstein for him to make the call to Judy Gabbert. What is it that he did must be found out because Judges do not make such phone calls. "
(Ruben)
"Mr. Tripati will not prevail in any of his challenges. The buzz in legal circles in Maricopa County is Tripati will be made an example of by the state courts because he made the judges look like fools. "
(No Name)
"If Conlon and Tripati desire to win in Arizona, they should obtain a great deal of money and hire a lawyer who is a member of the inner circle, with the right political connections. Judge Jonathan Schwartz has clearly come out and stated only wealthy individuals with the right lawyer prevail in Arizona Courts. "
(Jeffrey)
"These judges are like cockroaches who fear exposure of their conduct to light because their true colors can only be revealed with the light exposed in this website."
(Jay)
"They stick together. Had Mr. Tripati not produced the affidavit submitted by Judy Gabbert and the related materials, he may have prevailed. At this stage, the Judges have the obligation to protect Judges Ronald Reinstein, Jonathan Schwartz and Gregory Martin and they will do all that it takes. As a member of the Bar, I personally know Rule 26.1 does not allow lawyers to amend their disclosure after they use the evidence. In the Tripati matter the entire evidence should have been excluded and for the Court Of Appeals to state otherwise, is incorrect."
(Thomas)
"Our state legislators are not interested in the welfare of the public. They are more interested in filling their pockets with money. This is why they have allowed the type of misconduct in this website."
(Armand)
"As Judge Tom Cole has the duty to protect Judge Philip Hall, he will never grant Mr. Conlon any relief."
(Antonio)
"Both the Arizona Supreme Court and the Arizona Legislature need to intervene and take immediate action to correct the problems stated in this website so as to prevent lasting damages to the institutions of our State."
(Warren)
"Use of Federal Racketeering Laws to correct the misconduct disclosed in this website is proper. These employees of the Attorney General and Prison System are racketeers. They are not better than the prisoners they have in their prisons."
(Betty)
"The Arizona Supreme Court has created the type of problems shown in this website. They should direct the Arizona Commission Of Judicial Conduct and the State Bar of Arizona to investigate the misconduct described in this website."
(Alfred)
"The Arizona Supreme Court should vacate the decisions in the Reed, Conlon, Tripati cases and severely admonish the three appellate panels as well as the lawyers."
(Mary)
"What do you expect from these judges. If you for a minute believe they review the record in all cases you are mistaken. Both our Courts Of Appeals and Supreme Court do not review the record."
(Andrew)
"My colleagues and I reviewed the record in the Conlon, Reed and Tripati cases. As we personally know the lawyers involved as well as the members of the three panels, we did not doubt what has been stated about them in this website. These panels clearly did not review the record for had they, the decisions would have been different. Our Supreme Court will do nothing."
(Marcus)
"Michael O'Toole and I work together. While he is extremely aggressive, I am aware that he has the habit of submitting false affidavits similar to the Taugner declaration. Mike, you should think twice."
(Name Not Given)
"Kelley Morrissey worked with me in the Arizona Attorney General's Office where I noticed on too many instances she withheld evidence adverse to the State so as to prevent issues being tried by a jury. It is refreshing to know someone is taking her to task."
(No Name)
"The Arizona State Legislature should conduct it's investigation on all the matters raised in this website and put in place laws to prevent our judges and state employees from repeating similar acts."
(Aurora)
"The State should pass special legislation giving Mr. Conlon and Tripati a new trial in their criminal and civil cases because of judicial corruption."
(Maria)
"This is the state where Governors are always involved in scandals. Fife Symington was a thief who stole from pension funds, Jane Hull was involved in the alternate fuel fiasco and now this. I am not shocked."
